About 95 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and about half of the finalists will win a national merit scholarship, earning the merit scholar® title. More than a dozen high school seniors from east cobb have been named recipients of national merit scholarships for 2024.
More than 16,000 of the high scorers, representing less than 1% of the nation’s high school graduating seniors, will qualify as semifinalists. Announcements about other program honors, such as finalist standing, are left to the discretion of each.
